I don't know how the police Ambos or nurses cope, they are excellent at what they do. Everyone contributes in different ways and I guess for different reasons. I know our team commented how awesome the community were, it was great to see in this day.
Mate, in Feb 2009, a couple of weeks after Black Saturday here in Vic, when fire conditions were still what we call Code Red, my house caught fire here in the Dandenongs' bush ( unrelated to the bushfires, it was electrical ). The CFA guys were all exhausted, as they had all been out in Strike teams for weeks. That particular morning, around 8:30, my local mob ( Sassafras/Ferny Creek ) had already been out to three false alarms ( on edge people and a lot of smoke still around ) when my call came in from my wife. This probably saved my house from total destruction, as the guys were still kitted up, and some were simply sitting in their vehicle resting, so they arrived in about two minutes. They saved my house, looked after my distressed wife and helped me when I raced home from work. They got a $1000 donation a week later.

I dips me lid to you blokes. Most of us do, and don't you ever forget it.

Don't think that the outrage is directed at the various checks. We all have to do those at some point. However, I don't know about you, but I find the original comment by the activist to be a little beyond the pale, to put it mildly.

funny how the 3 countries where murdoch press is given the power to own most of the news services etc all have very right wing governments

these days i read The saturday paper, which i find pretty much sticks to real facts and gets into anyone in the political spectrum telling porkies, independent australia , which is also pretty good on facts but a tad too left leaning i personally think, and i read the lastest news feeds on the abc and the australian.

reddit and twitter have some pretty interesting background on news as well i find, but you need to be a little wary...

Same as MSIC, really, except MSIC is the Feds, not State.

What DiscoMick said. You need one to access the wharf. There is a similar ASIC for airports.
