I love using old timber. rechargeable batteries from AA to D cell inhabit my home now for everything from my fire alarms to kids toys .

I already have LED lighting and some other stuff which saves me money with rising power prices ( Smug mug had to pay for it of course)

Usual sell my slightly old computers or re-home them Noted several companies like this MIght try then with all my Win 7 work computers going out now. PM if you want one or two

Worm farm rocks. A recycled 340 litre compost bin has a few million worms. I cannot fill it up before the greed sod devour everything. Casting used on vegi patch and also diluted in watering can as a plant food which makes a lot of plants very happy.

A box trailer with a cage at work get all cardboard and paper. Saves me a packet as no recycling for business here. Others put in all in the bin and pay for it to go. Disco get the trailer to the recycling center in style.

I have old Land Rovers and wouldn’t consider buying a new car, so that’s a start. 😁

I try and be pretty careful with what I buy as far as the recycling of the packaging goes and do all the normal stuff but try and do it well and not half arsed like a lot do.

Cardboard is free to drop off to recycle at the tip, so I always stack that up until I have a uteload then take it down,

It disturbs me the amount of plastic packaging that gets binned as it isn't acceptable in the recycling bin.

I got rid of over 100 litres of old paint from a local scout hall last weekend. The council has a free drop off point for oils, paint, styrofoam, electronic waste, LPG bottles, car batteries, etc. I went with a trailer load of stuff - and forgot the old lead acid batteries - doh!

Household batteries get tossed into a container which I, every so often, take to Aldi to drop into their battery recycling bin.

I understand that there is no current market for recyclable plastics. Why aren't we "banking" these plastics by storing them until they are rise in value to be valuable to recover? They are inert and could be buried in bulk. They will be valuable one day for the petrochemicals in them alone....

I looked at using them in a Biochar project. Very workable.

As has been shown over the past year or so most recycling ends up in landfill or in Asian rivers. I used to be quite diligent in what went into the recycling bin but an no so much now - yes a drink bottle or the pizza box will still go into the recycling bin but I no longer bother checking other stuff as the chances are that it will all end up in the tip anyway.

A sad state of affairs but is of the authorities making - most people want to do the right thing but authorities seem to be more interested in being seen to to the right thing rather than actually doing it.

And I am the type of person that will drive 30km to the tip to recycle 4 litres of old engine oil but I should be able to do it locally.
