short on food John?![]()
Just over two weeks ago I set off to drive to Melbourne. When I went round to get in the car, I found the explanation for Lily's bad breath the previous night - about a metre from the driver's door I found the head and forequarters of a very dead kangaroo. Just got to the stage where it pulled apart easily!
I put the dog in the car and she went off for a holiday, at the kennels.
When I returned a week ago tomorrow, picking her up on the way, it was still there, so just about the first thing I had to do was to move it into the incinerator, where she can't get at it (will be burnt when weather allows).
Tonight, I followed her out the study door, and found most of the rest of (presumably) the same roo, about a metre off the front verandah. Still missing the tail and one hind leg.....

Back on topic,my parents used to have a couple of German Pointers, when we were kids.
They used to wonder off at night and often brought back hares, and would bring them inside and eat them under our beds. Two sets of bunks,4 kids.
For some reason they ate everything up except the ears.
So we would often find hare ears under our beds,as would our mother when she was sweeping out the bedrooms.
They were smart hunters, not many dogs can catch hares.
We used to have a GSP, great dog, very well natured and exceptionally protective of the kids. He used to catch eels and present them to us, live.![]()
If you don't like trucks, stop buying stuff.
My mate has a weimemener (spelling?) and lives on his property of about 300 arce with bush and good grass.Just about every time I go out there his dog brings back a wallaby, small or huge, doesn't seem to matter. Mate runs a knife up the gut and the only hing left after a 2 days is the teeth and skin. Then it will go and get the next one. The dog still expects a chicken frame each night for supper. Not an ounce of fat on it.

ps when I take my malamute out there, he hunts also but always rolls in a big sloppy cow ****
That could be taken more than one way, but I will assume that you mean I am not feeding her enough - to quote the vet at her annual inspection a few months back "Don't let her get any fatter, losing a little fat would be good.I should be able to feel the bumps down her spine" She is not by any stretch obese, but also definitely not starving, although sometimes she thinks she is.
