No.4 grandchild rang me this morning at 0630. Very grumpy because it seems certain that today's soccer is 'off' (Yass). Seems very unlikely that the field will not be closed. Told me that one of her classmates has floodwater in the house, lives somewhere along Dogtrap Rd, I believe.

    Would you believe it!

My next door neighbor called me again this afternoon to pull him out of the same creek. Different crossing, and his ute this time. But he was panicking - the place was only about 10-20m from where the creek joins the Talbragar River, which was rising at about 30cm/hr - and the water was already almost up to the ute's sills.

As it turned out I did not pull him out, his son turned up shortly after I got there and pulled him out backwards from the other side of the creek. It was actually a rather silly place to try to cross the creek, especially in a 2wd ute, as there is a sand ledge this side about 30cm high.

He was trying to get a mob of sheep across the bridge over the river before it went under.

When I first started driving across water over here many years ago it was drummed into me by the old farmers and fencing guys that the single most important consideration in where you cross is the exit from the water. If you get this wrong you are screwed no matter how well the entry bit and crossing bit goes.

Your epidermis is waterproof, ND! Although, nude cycling may be a bit uncomfortable in the saddle.
Hang on! Didn't they have a nude bicycle event in Melbourne recently? Were you there?

We have available space in our water tanks.
However, our planned weekend camping at Gordon Country could be a bit damp.

Ducks don't like the rain, only the result.
If you don't like trucks, stop buying stuff.
