This latest drop of rain should hopefully encourage the Tea trees to flower again , leptospermum honey is great, mate.
A neighbour says he has had 60mm, which is good. Place looking much greener. Even saw a platypus in the creek this morning. Amazing how much difference a bit of rain makes.

You are lucky. Here in Westlake only getting a little more than a shower but it's been falling for the last 3hr's. Every little bit counts & stops the tanks from running dry. Should soak in & not run off which is good.
Best wishes to all in the fires , if we could wish and send this to you, we would. Your turn will come, don't despair.

Steady drizzle overnight here in Maleny and its continuing this morning along with a thick mist.
I love the sound of rainwater running into half empty tanks. Still need a lot more though before I would cancel the water delivery due this week.
Glad I cleaned the gutters and fitted new gutter guard last week. We also just yesterday laid a new topping of crushed concrete on the driveway, so this rain should make it set. I also buried grass runners in some bare patches of lawn and we have planted in the vegie garden. So we might have gotten the timing right, for once.
Hope the rest of the country gets some like this. We need about a week of steady, soaking rain.
10.67 mm here overnight with a wee drizzle still occurring. It looks like most of today's, forecast rain is now out to sea
Bob, from the BOM it looks like you had around 50 mm![]()
DM, keep a good eye on your gutters with the gutter guard in place. I have removed mine as, I'm assuming because of the lack of rain, there was a build up of silt/compost in the gutters which took a hell of a lot of removing i.e. having to remove the guard as blower was ineffectual. I had to use a scraper and the Gurney. What a delightful time was had.
It would depend on the species, numbers and proximity to the house as to how much crud is accumulated.
58 mm in the gauge this morning. It's almost unbelievable the lift in mood it brings. I even slept in this morning! unheard of. Sometimes little things mean the most, don't they? Can't wait for our brothers and sisters down south to feel the same.
EDIT. We sit over a natural ' spring', which is really just a rock bowl where water collects from the surrounding area. This means normally, grown trees don't need to be watered, because their roots reach this ' spring'. Some trees down the back, closer to the tidal creek, have started dying . Apparently when a tree runs out of water , they take it from their leaves, and its been sad to see these beautiful trees dying. Besides , my bees rely on them . I haven't had to water my grown trees for ages, this rain will replenish that spring a little, perhaps I'm imagining it, but everything just looks 'happier ' in the bush today. When natures happy, we are happy. When Mother Earth is unhappy, well we all can see what happens then.

We had our last lot of rain here quite a few weeks ago and we are not expecting any more until Feb/March (this is quite normal here) But always the optimist I have spent the last 3 days repairing/replacing the gutters and downpipes on the house just in case we get Lucky and one of this years cyclones come a little further south than they usually do and we are blessed with a bit of summer rain to fill the tanks again.
Here's hoping![]()
