We had 55 mm in the gauge at the farm on Saturday and more forecast for the end of the week. Whilst we can still drive around OK everything is wet and all the dams are full

As there will be no Ekka this year, will there be no westerlies either?
If you don't like trucks, stop buying stuff.

We won't get any rain either so if no rain there will be no westerlies. I am thinking about doing some painting out side so that is sure to bring the rain .

We got snow today for the first time and when it did the temp dropped to 2 degrees - it was so cold it stuck around for around 4 or 5 hours afterwards. It’s now 4 degrees, but apparent temp is -5.

    Road Chaos in Hobart

Heavy snow falls yesterday which were predicted resulted in the usual government response..ie nothing done to keep major roads open.

So the police moved in and shut the roads.

The Huon hwy was shut BUT side tracks/roads were not..so non 4wd cars were allowed onto other road/tracks which were in a worse state than the highway😐

Result: carnage as hundreds of cars packed the narrow Pelverata road trying to get home. Many crashed and nobody could get thru...including me. I then used an unknown logging road to bypass the carnage.

How can this happen in a modern society where the gov spends millons on roads with resulting dozens of contractors with heaps of machines and as well local govt with all their shiny graders etc.??

Irony was that I was later blocked from returning home when police eventually decided to stop 2 wheel drive cars going thru....after 4 hours of chaos.

Mad as hell I drove through.. and yes they chased me down trying to tell me the D4 would not get thru...it already had. Easily😚

.what an absolute stuff up..why do we pay these fools 😐

The Westerlies came in July. This forecast rain may see more this weekend. Here is a climate driver update, should be rain in spring.

I’m pretty sure the dinosaurs died out when they stopped gathering food and started having meetings to discuss gathering food

A bookshop is one of the only pieces of evidence we have that people are still thinking

IMG_1304.jpg Mate sent me this photo of his RR from Launceston this morning . It was reluctant to start so took his Morris Mini 850 to work instead.

Be surprised if you have any worries.
Be interesting to see the water level at Lawn Hill. When we were there in the Sept drought the water was down about 1.5m, the rangers said.
I see Melb had snow on the tops of city skyscrapers overnight.
