Went into town today. Came home at lunchtime, in rain nearly all the way. Not very heavy though. Its been stopped for a couple of hours, but looks like it could start again any time!

Yeah Lismore, Kyogle and low lying areas evacuated.
I'm supposed to be going to Kyogle on Friday to look at a job, not sure I'll be able to get there at this stage.
Plenty of rain in coffs at the moment, minor flooding again.
    Over this rain

Yesterday morning measured 6mm, and another 30mm in the gauge this morning. So with plans for my son & his family to be here Saturday night (gymnastics competition in Dubbo), went out after lunch to check access. Because the main creek crossing is getting very bad, I decided to look at the one going straight into my place a few hundred metres downstream. I walked across it, and it seemed OK, although everything still very wet.

So I decided to drive across (this is in the 2a). Bad move. It was too slippery to get up the other side. Or to back up this side. Did some thinking, and let all four tyres down until they were bulging nicely. This enabled me to back up the slope without too much trouble. On getting back to the house, checked the tyres. I had dropped them to 12-15psi. I'll put them up again tomorrow, but not as high as they were (35psi). In weather like this (not that we have had much in the last ten years) I miss my bar treads. (Current tyres are Desert Duellers 7.50x16)

In reverse going back up the bank, do you think the weight transfer with the weight of the motor helped?

Four wheel drive so should not make any difference. If it was getting dug in rather than just slipping, it may have been more of a factor. The interesting bit was that the low tyre pressure worked for a slippery surface rather than a soft surface.

I assume this is because of the larger contact area as the circle of the tread flattened, giving more tread blocks on the ground at a time.

    Here we go again

Heavy rain on its way AGAIN QLD. Your May records about to get smashed? "Mr Hanniffy said that parts of Queensland had already received more than their May average, and this forecast rain could lead to a monthly total of up to 10 times the May average."

You all seem to be hogging the rain this year or this century?

Remember your wet weather gear, get out the MT tires and keep safe

No rain forecast here today or tomorrow, but heavy rain forecast for the rest of the week - and each new forecast is for more rain than the last one! Currently looking at up to 85mm; last night it was only up to 55 from memory.
