It's something I usually avoid. Today, I was at the radio clubhouse to help with giving the Amateur Radio Foundation Licence Course and I didn't heed my own rules.
Naturally, a branch broke off the big gum in the property across the road and fell onto the bonnet of my Range Rover. It wasn't really something I wanted. I suspect I'll need a new bonnet, panel beaters usually aren't that skilled with aluminium panels and one needs a specialist.
Gaaahh!

No, I should have taken one of the tree and bonnet before I drove off.

Glad to see your "luck" is still with you Ron.
Bummer though.![]()
I'm now looking for a bonnet in Adriatic Blue. AAMI seem to want an excess of $845 - much higher than what's on my policy.
I might try for a couple of repair quotes.

One of my rules - don't park under gum trees. Or camp under them. They drop their limbs too easily and in seemingly slight conditions.
Bloody hell Eevo! So much for the Crew Safety Cab. I hope the lads weren't seated at the time.
Yep & they don't even need to be old dry branches either
.We have had them drop here with a reasonable shower of rain that tips the mass of the branch with a tad extra weight on the leaves, assuming it wouldn't have had time to penetrate the wood. Suddenly, bloody crash! "**** I was just standing under that a couple of minutes ago".
Calm conditions too.
When I was lad in Winton, a rule was to never park under a shady tree. The western towns then had lots of goats for milk. A goat would climb on top of a car parked under a tree to eat the nice green leaves it otherwise could not reach. Sharp hooves were real good for paint work and soft tops. Only tourists and city folk parked under trees and then only once.![]()
