The High Ground - Space - Will your descendents be "in the hands" of ...

    20 Nov 2019
Lt General USAF speech at Hillsdale College in D.C.. bio - LIEUTENANT GENERAL STEVEN L. KWAST > U.S. Air Force > Biography Display

About the biggest "heads up" since Winnie warned about the Third Reich in the 1930's.

Who will be in charge of The Earth?

Here is the youtube presentation. (skip the first 5 mins.. the 12min mark is... killer.)

(this is the dreadnaught type arms race of our era - history repeating itself - but there is no choice but to take up the challenge)

    In (super) brief:

Kwast believes that a Space Force is crucial to ensuring that America does not get behind in the competition for development in space. He argued that the energy market, the transportation economy, information technology, and new manufacturing will be dominated by the country that takes advantage of what he calls a “new marketplace.”

He also argued that whenever there is a new marketplace there needs to be a guardian force to bring order and predictability to that marketplace or there will be violence and theft. He pointed out that China is already building such a guardian force- the equivalent of a navy fleet for space. If the U.S. allows China to take on this role then China will also be the one setting the rules.

Kwast argues that if the U.S. is in the driver’s seat the market will reflect the values of our Constitution and individual rights, but if China sets the rules the market will look more like subordination and the subversion of human dignity and liberty.

Kwast’s call for a Space Force is an urgent one. He points at 5G as an example of China stealing American ideas and technology, duplicating them and then dominating the market. He does not want the same thing to happen with the new opportunities in the space industry. This, he argues, is why we need a Space Force and soon.

He argues that if China becomes dominant in space they will put roadblocks in place for the countries that come after them.

Whoever gets there first will have the ultimate strategic high ground, he argues. “They are building that infrastructure. They are unapologetic about it, and they plan on declaring victory as the dominant world power in space at the 100-year anniversary, 2049,” Kwast stated.

Here is a news piece about the Lt. General's speech, just released 16 December, close to a month after the speech.

It mentions that the future of war may be in outer space -despite- the International Space Convention and numerous UN Resolutions against such an outcome.

A future where outer space transmissions energise your phone and even your household appliance (having new on-board capacitors) is a future of dependence IMHO. Yes, it will be cheaper and therefore very attractive... but much like the electric vehicle fleet, you lose independence; your vehicle etc is effectively networked and the network can be criminally hijacked /ransomed /harrassed /disabled.

The US republic is very good but has some, um, imperfections.

    * Supreme Court. Judges appointed until they flatline. Surely 70 should be the limit. And the court can be "stacked" by left or right Presidents w/o reference to the electorate who have no say. What they do is make the Supreme Court part of the Presidential Election Campaign... and deals are done for Attorney-Generals to take up a seat if they do something the President wants. Cronyism in play etc.

    * Presidential Campaigns which (lately - since the 1990s) seems to be a groundhog day type endless loop of pollsters, fundraisers, lobbyists, corporate donor suckup, and media advertising - in short, it became an Industry.

    * Presidential Executive orders? No reference to the electorate. Literally a sort of Decree with an eye on public reactions. Pres. Obama put out E.O. that stood down most of the US Laws on Immigration.

    * Ambassadors seem to be selected by a new President based on how much fundraising is done for him or her. And what old school tie you wear, nod nod wink wink etc...

Ever wondered, if the web news has torpedoed actual newsprint, how is it that some 'papers are still here in 2019? Maybe some aussie papers print chinese propaganda?? Like in the USA? I really do wonder what the hell is going on around the diplomatic world. China Flouts Fed Law to Publish Propaganda in NY Times, WaPo
