Now I'm really grumpy. It's coming down so hard outside, I can't get out for a burger.

A bit late for Maccas, isn't it?
I'm new here so I'm going to try and be as PC as I can when I say this at the risk of getting a warning on my first post.Quote:
The slow lane
- With 3 lanes or so on many roads in a 80, 100 or 110 kph zones. Why do people doing 40kph sit in the right hand lane.
- On the flip side when turning right (legally) from the right hand lane on multi lane road do some behind you feel your rudely delaying their drive [biggrin]
I can only speak for SA drivers (sorry [bigwhistle] I'm a POHM) but the general attitude is that it's every person for themselves on the road and it's them against you. In UK the attitude is more like we're all in it together and its us (the drivers) against the road and general overcrowded, under maintained conditions.
I reckon the slow coaches stick in their lanes because if they don't then no bugger will let them in if they want to change lanes. And don't get me started on merging and roundabouts. Good grief!
On my first visit to the UK in 1973, we were in bumper to bumper traffic on what passed for a main road (one lane each way)on the outskirts of London. My brother was driving - he had been there before and he said "We need to turn right here, so he stopped with the right blinker on, and the next car coming the other way immediately stopped and let us turn right. I was astounded! I don't know if the fact we were in a LHD Denmark registered car was a factor.
I will regularly do that, in the perhaps vain hope that 'what goes around comes around'. It costs me nothing and frees up the traffic flow. On the weekend, where I live, you could grow old and die waiting for a gap in oncoming traffic. Sometime people may even thank me....
I was always hoping that the clown screaming into the roundabout at 80k would actually hit the double so I could have the gendarmes explain to him that, no, give way to the right does NOT actually apply here.
It is also illegal.
