It is poorly planned by the council who are aware of the problem but do nothing about it.

Pretty normal there, they cant admit to being wrong, then spend big dollars to sort out their own stuff up.
Interestingly here the council are saying none of their future planning is going to include those large American pick ups.i suppose that means the size of parking bays, etc.

Is there no end to their stupidity. The The Today show ran a segment on using cards instead of cash. One shopkeeper declared that they don't take cash, only cards. The heads comment was that this is an increasing popular trend.

Now hang on a minute. Cash is legal tender and cannot be refused as a payment method. These heads need to remember that they are entertainers on a chat show and not hard hitting journalists.

.....and don't start me on their support for passports for traveling inter state.

Some,in fact most Sports Stadiums around here, and apparently in other places in Aus as well, are not set up for cash. The ones that are, are moving away from it.

One thing I dont like is people or businesses asking for copy of license and DOB,i think that is private info, and shouldn't be given to anyone without a very good reason.

Locals try to avoid parking there when they can but tourists are another matter. They happily reverse out in a hurry [typical city folk behavior, always in a rush] without using their mirrors or even swiveling their heads to have a gander to see if the road is clear. Bent panels and broken tail lights are a common result.

Maybe when the Mayor has his/her Brand new Bentley Convertible wiped out in a rear to rear ender the council, just by coincidence mind you, will take action.

Especially if said Bentley belongs to Council as a Staff Car/Lunch Shoppe transport.

    Yeah roight.

Actually it can be refused. It is up to the individual business operator how they wish to be paid. I looked this up when this blew up last year about cash and germs.

So the best thing to do if you don't like it, is take your business elsewhere.

The government on the other hand would absolutely LOVE society to be cashless so they can track every dollar you earn and spend so they can tax the crap out us. AND, track your movements if necessary.

Don't think a cashless society will work for drug dealers.

Fair enough. If you want to drive a truck, use the loading dock.
