(I think I mentioned a while back the issues I have had with my "cheap" chainsaw. While I expected a lack of durability compared to my previous one that cost more than four times as much thirty years ago, I did not expect that "service parts" would become unavailable after three years. The saw actually works quite well, starts every time etc, so is satisfactory in that sense.)
Much to my surprise, I was able to order a replacement drive sprocket a month ago, and be told that it was available, but would take one or two months to get. Better than unavailable, even if it had to be paid in advance. Well, last week I got a call to say it was in, so this morning, I left on my trip to town early, and picked it up.
I have just pulled the saw apart, and got the old part off. And found that it is the wrong part. I called the store, and they called back a short while later, to say that part was unavailable. I am unsure what to do now - probably buy a "proper" saw for seven times the price! But certainly not from the same place. Unfortunately we are now facing three days of overcast, and without firewood that means no hot water!
So now I am really grumpy.
