I very vaguely recall that here. ???????

Gun fight at the NAB Cash Desk perhaps?

Just on that, Couriers of Cash to premises are always (?) MN) accompanied by blokes with guns on their hips.

One wonders whether these Hop-along Cassidy's would ever use them or drop them when a Bandit told them to "Drop 'em" & the blokes dropped their DAKS, such are organisations these days.

"Oh dearie me, it is not our money Cedric, let him have the cash."

    Just sayin like.

Lots of hoops to jump through.

One purpose,as an example,is vermin control, shooting out of helicopters,by professionals.

For me,and I have been shooting since I was a kid,and still shoot,I don’t really mind the rules as they stand today.
If we go the other way, there would be too many weapons around, particularly handguns,as there are in the US.
Many have no idea what they are capable of,or even just general baseline safety around firearms.

As for the criminal element,no matter what the rules are they will still get what they want, that’s just the way it is.
The authorities just have to do the best they can.

Anyway just my 2 cents worth

On that I have seen footage of the good old SLR being used out of a door less chopper.

Up to the late 80s all ships/ navy shore bases had a PAY DAY. Cash a few hundred by 300 to 1200 ish or even more at a Vic training place at Westernport

F1 sub machines guns carried - were they loaded? Royal Australian Navy payroll stolen just once. Cannot see details on WEB and I wasn't there so perhaps it is a myth A few side arms carried probably were loaded I suspect.

PS F1 was Made in Aus to- Lithgow small arms - Not really hunting material Fired off the side of a ship once- the bullet spray on the water was no were as neat as when using a SLR

BHP had armed security when payroll did their plant wide issue.

    Less selective, pump action shotguns.

2 armed guards and the paymaster.

Certainly up to the late 70s smaller vessels withdrew their pay day cash from the local Commonwealth Bank - an officer with a 9mm and a sailor with either a F1 or SLR (really a F1 while better for security but was too dangerous to lug around civilians) hopped into the ship's car, up to the bank with the withdrawal slip - driver outside with the motor running got the money and back to the boat - no one thought anything of it.

Did scheme with an other officer how to knock off the payroll from that "Vic training place at Westernport" and use the Patrol Boat to get away but in reality the boat was just too slow to make a getaway so that idea died a natural death.

when I was in RAINF when we were paid in cash , a digger was appointed from each company to be the pay officers guard for that particular company.

I think we were given one live round which was placed in the magazine and ordered to "load"....that was it .....sit around for hours with SLR between your knees until ordered to "unload" , then "clear weapon" , then hand over the round and make the loud declaration , " I have no live ammunition or range produce in my possession , SIR"..

exciting being a digger in the barracks.

These days one could possibly use a Bond Jet Pak.

Can that, the RAN could probably bring you down with some AA fire or a SaM. WTF!

My fist school holiday job was in a menswear store in the middle of Queens Street Brisbane, I was all of 13.5 years old.
As part of the shops insurance a male member of staff had to accompany the office girl to the bank with the previous days takings.
Guess what one of the jobs I got was!
Honestly the office girl would have been just as safe on her own.
I did enjoy it though, I had a bit of a crush on her.

PS No gun, that would have been fun for a 13 year old.
