I wanted to take my SLR out shooting. I wouldn’t have had any ammo but I figured they would die of fright.
Well sometimes you would shoot one, miss completely, and then go and pick it up,they were sort of stunned.
I have said on here before,i aimed at one with the .22/.410,using the .22 barrel, just as i squeezed the trigger,a wild cat grabbed the rabbit and the bullet went through both their heads.I didn't even see the cat until the shot had been fired.
We gut them when warm, skin them at the same time, either cook them up,or cut them in half, two nights of food for the dog.

SupporterInteresting comment about using a .22 / .410. I used to have a small combination rifle in that pattern. Very unique in that they were made for the US military and carried as a survival weapon in aircrew. They were in two halves, under and over, with storage space in the stock for the ammo. The break down action was a simple pin that could be pulled out.
Only had the one trigger which was a small squeeze bar underneath, and the hammer was selected either up or down. It came with a canvas carrying bag and I used to keep it in my helicopter.
I ended up giving all my guns to a mate that had them on his license, and he has since given it to his granddaughter, that is now my "carer."
I had one of those, carried it in my camper years ago. Shot a couple of feral cats in the Simpson with it. Could not stop as they would run so keep driving and shoot them out the window. Sold it as did not like the feel of the bar trigger. It was for using with gloves on. I think mine was a Savage M6 or something. They made another with .22 Hornet in the top barrel.
Why is there not a shooting sub forum in the Parking Lot along with other sports?

I had an under/over, but it wasn't military. Broke open like a normal shottie, .22 on top, .410 below. Twin triggers. Used solids in the .410. Only time I ever really used it was to finish off a wombat that I had run over. .22 would have probably bounced off.
