At 1421, I received a Bureau "Heat Wave Warning" for my district. I went outside and checked my weather station. It showed 27.9°.

What's going on? What constitutes a Heat Wave? Is it to try and scare the population with a subliminal, 'Climate Change' message?

Is there anything that pollies don't have the stinky/sticky fingers in, these days?

A few years ago BoM's Italian counterpart was sued for failing to predict an earthquake.
Since then, it appears that BoM err on the side of caution. That seems counterproductive to me, the boy who cried wolf and all.

I was checking out the weather in the Scenic Rim this morning. EXTREME HEAT it said. 30 degrees.

I went for a drive near there yesterday and even went for a 20 minute walk in the evening, it was 25 degrees according to the car and didn't feel humid. I didn't even break into a sweat.

A little bit of "Yes Minister" shenanigans. A couple of weeks ago, my wife received two cheques from the ATO. Today, she made a trip to our bank, to deposit them. The bank informed her that they no longer accept cheques, as the Government is phasing them out. She then spent two hours on the 'phone to the ATO and finally sorted things out.

A little bit of "Yes Minister" shenanigans. A couple of weeks ago, my wife received two cheques from the ATO. Today, she made a trip to our bank, to deposit them. The bank informed her that they no longer accept cheques, as the Government is phasing them out. She then spent two hours on the 'phone to the ATO and finally sorted things out.

What a great way of not paying bills. Ban cheques then send a cheque to settle an account.

I would have thought that banks were obliged to accept government cheques. Guess not.
