after the flame front has passed, get out and check under your car. hopefully you chose a good spot to park. bare earth, a road, already burnt ground.
I wouldn't over think it too much Mike. Some basic preparations and common sense will get you 90% of the way there. Don't forget the south coast burnover video looks to be a fairly high fuel load area. Avoiding that would be a high priority. Best scenario would be to be in a grass paddock that you knew was flat in front of you, then line yourself up and drive through the moving front to burnt paddock on the other side. Best is through the fire flank rather than the head.
The parents property burnt through on 22 Dec. 5 fire fronts over 9 hours attacking the house, but they saved it with good preparation. They have a 400,000Ha fire break now.

The Cyclone building up on the NW coast should bring a nice cool change and hopefully some rain to the fire affected areas in the East and that may hopefully help contain or even put out these fires [thumbsupbig]

Apparently burnt ground can still burn again as it is the carbon that reignites & supports another fire. I don't know if this is based on fact & it would be good to prove/disprove.
That was one family's experience but please don't take my word for it, but it sounds like there ain't much to burn around them now after five fronts tried to take them out.
But one can never tell! I suppose the reignition needs to be "supported" by a strong wind & maybe fireballs. I don't think that family even knew, as they were just glad it moved on.
