Yepa rip off.
Hi all can any one tell me the difference between truck diesel and premium diesel as I'm buggered if I can see any difference accept for price when I brought the car the only diesel you could buy was standard diesel seems just a money grab by the oil companeys.

We have a local servo with a dedicated truck canopy, it dispenses truck diesel. The car canopy has only special (?) diesel at three cents dearer. All diesel bowsers draw fron the same underground tank.
If you don't like trucks, stop buying stuff.
more or less
when the new common rail diesels came out as part of the requirements to meet the euro standards low sulphur diesel was rolled out.
for a while there were 2 types of diesel, truck or agri diesel for the older engine and the new ultra low sulphur stuff.
now theres just one, the low sulphur stuff.
the low sulpher stuff was replaced with the "preimium" branding and a few more bits have been added and subtracted to the mix.

If you think you're in front on the deal, pay it forwards.
As above, only difference is the flow rate (and nozzle size) at the pump. The lower price is because trucks usually fill in multiples of hundreds of litres at a time.

Dang, that sounds like a rip off to me...
Down here we get both premium petrol and diesel but it is actually different stuff, or so they say. It even comes from different tanks. The base fuel is the same though. We have only 2 or 3 brands with large fuel deposits and they all fill up at one of those and add 1000 litres of additives down the block. This determines if it is a normal or premium fuel and which brand you are using.
There is one exception with petrol though, if you buy premium at two brands (shell and bp only) you get 0% bio-ethanol crap so that is a different base fuel I guess but this is not relevant to diesel
Cheers,
-P
Yep, I thought the premium diesel just had detergent type additives in it.
Cheers
