Bribie Island Beach Drive - stopped counting at 400

Yesterday the Daughter and her girlfriend were keen to some beach driving.

We lowered tyre pressures in the southern end carpark.

It was high tide when we hit the beach.

On the way back from the northern end, the girls had the two front seat under control with me in the back seat......I decided to count the number of 4WD’s

Just before we exited the beach we hit 400.....

Spotted a few white pointers as well.

Yep, weekdays only for us. This was a monday, not too long ago. Nearest vehicle way off in the distance. Showing off a wee bit, too. 'Twas released to swim freely.

Those were the days when we had a stretch of about 30kms of Bribie beach to ourselves. Ages ago, it seems...

There are people who spend all weekend cleaning the car.
And there are people who drive Discovery.

We were one of those 400. By 17h00 the beach was empty though, just the way we like it & we cruised back from the northern end on mostly hard sand.

A good while ago an old Bribie resident, from before the bridge, suggested to me that it was time to demolish the bridge now the island had water, sewerage, electricity, mostly sealed roads. Keep the tourists and the bloody Mexicans out. "Home Rule for Bribie", "Keep Bribie for the Islanders".
