Me, because it was reported earlier in the year in the crisis that this also happened on a well to do Sydney Harbour Suburb.
They dropped lots on Lane Cove.
I had to laugh at the news report as a woman was interviewed and said she didn't know about the fire until she left the house and saw everything was red.
I thought she must have been pretty deaf not to hear a Hercules at 100ft over her house.
This was when AFAIR Bob 10 was posting that there were lots of Hercules in California but none in Australia.
I thought that I was sure it was a Hercules and seeing it was then the only one, almost certainly the one that crashed. I was amazed at the manouvres of such a big plane over Lane Cove.

That could be a tad annoying, if one had one's washing on the Hills hoist.![]()
If you don't like trucks, stop buying stuff.
I've always thought that use of retardant in Canberra has been going on for a long time!
Fake news that retardant drop was not any where near VIP homes - was on a tourist car park at the bottom of ANZAC Parade - next to the Lake.

There is a small airport between Bakersfield and Visalia that has a commercial enterprise rebuilding ex- military Hercs for civilian customers. I was told most go to Africa and the Middle East. There must be one or more very rich men there. The field hosts a B17, F4U Corsair, and an F4 Phantom all in civilian livery and registration. All of which get regular use.

Well, that was one of their attributes together with the DHC Caribou. So bloody noisy, but they both seemed to be able to get into some weird & wonderful places & land & take off very short.I was amazed at the manouvres of such a big plane over Lane Cove.
Now I think we have an Italian job, so to speak.

I won't even mention the RAAF Lanc that flew under the Harbour Bridge in WW2.

Oh hang on I just did.
Edit. Ref post #1 & #7. It refers to Sydney not Canberra. Is there an ANZAC Pde in Sydney as well?
