Yes I burn my domestic waste because I haven't got the luxury of a regular rubbish pickup (**** i can't even get mail here)
I have absolutely NO problems with drones But IF they don't ask first then they are fair game just like the ****ing townies that think these can shoot ANYWHERE they like.
If someone asked me if it is OK to fly their drone on the property I would most likely say no.problem, If they just assume that they can fly over the property without consent then that is a whole different kettle of fish.

The rules for UAVs are very clear. And quite concise for basic operators.

Nothing within 30 meters of people (radius) or Above People are the most often flouted.
Then theres Altitude - the flight ceiling is 120mtrs above ground level, not above take off point. So you cant go up a mountain and then fly off into the distance without reducing altitude.

Want to be able to do a bit more - Get a licence. It not too hard and enables other uses eg. Night flying, altitude increase, approval to fly over persons (requires some additonal control measures).

Thanks Tombie, the first to reply with an answer....
One minor point is that ground level & sea level are being confused. I'm documenting some local construction by taking off from the local park on the "hill" and would be 250m above sea level. - Whoops, just realised what you mean & can't delete this post. yes, if I move away from the peak of the hill - & was at max altitude- I would somehow need to know how far from the ground it was flying to maintain 120m

But you do not own the air above the ground so they have every right to fly over your property without your consent - as long as they stay clear of buildings and people by the approved distance (I think 30m vert, 10m horizontally) they are perfectly legal.

The air above your land dont belong to you.

Never saw you as the enemy! Just addressed the comments.

I agree completely that if someone wants to fly on your property as a location they should do the *courtesy* of asking - that’s how polite society works.

If they are passing over it, then no permission is really needed. Again, it’s nice to ask. Not a requirement though.

Shooting is a ground based activity and therefore subject to trespass laws etc.

Normal drones have great cameras - but I wouldn’t stress too much about privacy concerns - unless it’s low enough that you can clearly hear and see it - it won’t get enough detail to matter.

Google Earth has more detail on people’s property.

Should I have shot down the hot air balloon that landed on my property just out of Yass?

I wasn't asked for permission to fly over, but I was asked if it was OK to land on my property.

As daylight was fading and the air was almost dead still, it would have been churlish of me to deny permission when the retrieval vehicle drove up to ask if it was OK to land on my place.

I seem to remember that when he asked if it was OK to land in my paddock, I agreed and joked that it didn't look as if the balloon pilot really had any other option.

My big disappointment was that it was not a regular flight, but a training flight for a new pilot. I had heard from my neighbour that when they landed on her place, they were invited to share the champagne breakfast provided for the passengers.

Just a thought though, that as they must to come to earth somewhere, I wonder if they chuck in an extra magnum or two, a few barbecued chicken legs & a few Salmon sarnies in for that scenario?

My house is nearly 2K's from the nearest public road so IF I have a drama with one over my house the drone pilot is breaking the law (You must be able to see your drone at all times while flying it ) or has incredible eyesight.
Otherwise the pilot is trespassing on the property in order to legally fly the drone and although I don't have any rights regarding "air space" I most certainly do as far as people physically trespassing on the property.

I myself own a drone and fly it from time to time and I have found that if flown too low it really disturbs the livestock so it isn't simply a case of privacy concerns Livestock can be adversely affected by the indiscriminate use of drones over rural properties as well.

Perhaps one might have to suffer the social stigma of not using a prestigious "London Gun" on trespassing drones. One of those American 10 gauge goose guns with the long barrel designed to shoot higher flying large fowl might be more efficient.

Unlicensed RPA pilots must retain VLOS.
If you have a RePL (licence) you can obtain approval to fly beyond VLOS [emoji106]
