If he was anything of a brain he would have known he was buggered before he started, but I see the latest theory (caught on fillum) is that the 'Return to Earth Parachute' snagged on launch & with him already being on his way, there was nothing anybody could do about it except maybe hold their breath & pray for him.

First of all he might have had a few different ideas but it's still a life lost by missadventure, any life is precious.

but for the onlookers that may have not held true & it would have only been a fleeting quickie anyway. It obviously wasn't going to work for him.

It wasn't my intention to start a religious discussion on the wisdom of his behaviour, he tried & due to unforeseen circumstances (well that may turn out to be incorrect as it happens), he failed, but if people dislike the word "failed"( as some do these days:rolleyes:) let us say that he wasn't successful in his endeavors.

Well, isn't that the Moon Lander in the image? So, taken from the Spacecraft AS-204 Apollo 1 circling the moon IMHO.

Assuming we DID go to the Moon....

Yes, it's the Lander, Collins in Command Module obviously hadn't thought of doing a selfie with the scene...
