Latest COVID-19 case locations and alerts in NSW - COVID-19 (Coronavirus)
With yet another shocker I guess a little chuckle at who not to count might be trivia and of interest- not meaning to belittle the deaths!
"The Real Toll From Prison Covid Cases May Be Higher Than Reported
Some deaths were not counted as part of prison virus tallies because hospitalized inmates were officially released from custody before they died. Richard Williamson, 86, was rushed from a Florida jail to a hospital last July. Within two weeks, he had died of Covid-19.
Hours after Cameron Melius, 26, was released from a Virginia jail in October, he was taken by ambulance to a hospital, where he died. The coronavirus, the authorities said, was a contributing factor.
And in New York City, Juan Cruz, 57, who fell ill with Covid-19 while in jail, was moved from a hospital’s jail ward into its regular unit before dying.
None of these deaths have been included in official Covid-19 mortality tolls of the jails where the men had been detained. And these cases are not unique."
More than 2700 prisoners have been recorded as dying from Covid in the USA. Dead is dead - Preventable deaths are worth avoiding. People and workers in aged care, hospital, disabilities and all front line workers from cleaners to enforcers are sadly still well under what I hoped would have been by now.
Never thought we would be the best or first. Rather surprised we are the worst or least vaccinated in the developed world.
I watched the media conference , and thought it strange he should say what he did. But perhaps that explains it. He is under a lot of stress , as they all are, and it is no surprise . This is what Hazzard said ;
" If the individuals that we need don't hear [ CHO Kerry Chant's ] message and don't respond , then at some point we are going to move to a stage where we are going to have to accept that the virus has a life which will continue in the community."
Treasurer Frydenberg said " Ultimately we can't eliminate the virus , we have to learn to live with the virus" , and he may be right , although I think we should wait to see the outcome of Boris's idea of opening up regardless. Boris said Britons will have to learn to live with more deaths. I hope that's not Frydenberg's idea as well.
Mr Hazzard said something which I thought was highly unusual, when giving reasons for the extra lockdown, he said as part of his answer [ not verbatim btw] " And we have more cases in the State to our North"
[ It's called QLD, mate. And don't blame us for your problems ] I thought.
Director General of the WHO, Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus said while not singling out any country " At this stage in the pandemic the fact that millions of health and care workers have still not been vaccinated"

You may have heard of the 10 health workers who saved a positive covid patient's life in hospital after she had an anaphlatic shock. Now I've read a couple of news items that have it all wrong. So, here is what really happened,
A woman in hotel quarantine was taken to hospital, positive with delta, and was wheeled away for tests by a covid team for an existing medical procedure. During the test she suffered an anaphlactic reaction from the dye being used. An emergency response team was called which went straight to work, and saved her life. The response team was dressed in PPE, but were concerned the procedure followed to save the woman's life may have compromised their PPE, and reported that. The 10 are now in isolation, they were all vaccinated.
This was from QLD CMO at the latest press conference.
The response team went straight in with no thought for their own safety. they were wearing PPE. Bloody heroes in my eye, although they would say they were only doing their job. BZ.

It seems that NSW may be being impacted by the same malaise that Melbourne endured during its big lockdown with some sections of the community not playing the ball and staying home. I don't subscribe to the "should have locked down earlier" theory because of the way that the case levels have remained constant over the last couple of weeks with most cases being directly traceable.
I never did see any analysis on the Melbourne issues, whether it was insufficiently draconian lockdown measures or a demographic specific issue that led to some areas having difficulty stopping creeping transmission. Maybe there will be some tougher restrictions in specific local government areas to control the spread?

AZ is not approved for use in the USA and is not included in the CDC's list of vaccines which people can have to be considered fully vaccinated.
Vaccine passports are going to become mandatory to enter many countries, but which vaccines?
AZ made in Europe is recognised by the EU, but the EU does not recognise the Indian AZ, or the Chinese or Russian vaccines.
Chinese vaxes are widely used in Asia, so that will be a problem for Asians wanting to travel.
Whether people who have had AZ made in Australia will be recognised by the USA, EU or other countries seems completely unclear at the moment.
Will countries, including Australia, refuse to allow entry to people unless they have had vaccines recognised in their country? Who knows?
The WHO says countries should recognise vaccines approved by it, but countries can ignore that and make their own decisions.
There are many unanswered questions at the moment.
I'm not planning to visit the USA, but if I was I'd be having Pfizer to remove any doubts.
