No, actually it is a criticism.
And I think that you've missed my point, which is that our Federation is devolving.
Quite a lot as it happens.

Victoria isn't small - it's only a little smaller than the UK, but with about one-eleventh the population.
It may be small in comparison to WA or Qld, but on a global stage it's bigger than a lot of European countries with significantly less population density.
Towns outside Melbourne are not close together and in any case there have been bugger all infections outside Melbourne.
I have a sneaking suspicion that Qld also has some other advantage such as a warmer climate or a more outdoor lifestyle, or more vitamin D in the citizens. Every time there has been a substantial outbreak it has been mopped up pretty quickly or was like the Blayney infection where it wasn't transmitted to as many people. Similarly in NT and SA.

Yes, I find that interesting as well. Trying to contact trace a major outbreak in a city of 5 million, is a lot harder than in a city of 2.6 million. It would also be easier to lock down the smaller population , you would think. As for the warmer climate, is there any evidence to support that theory, I remember that was bandied about in the beginning. Vitamin D is one of those fringe theories, don't know if it has been proven. I think the common denominator in major outbreaks is the density of population.
Melbourne is worried the virus is on the move beyond the western suburbs.
