Up here it's a little different as it almost seems the bloke deliberately tried to infect people.
Why else spend 8 days out and about looking at (expensive) real estate, refuse to use QR codes and refuse to work with Police and health officials now he's in hospital?

Having said all that it was so good to see the majority of the stores in Lismore Sq closed and hardly anyone about.
Woolies in the Sq was so quiet it was eery.
The staff were loving it.

I'm starting the day today in Ballina so I'll see how that compares, but it looks like most are respecting the lockdown.

The Qld govt learnt from NSW's slow approach with Delta and good on them for acting fast.

What NSW did worked with the earlier mutations, sadly Delta is much more virulent.

That graph has a logarithmic Y axis, which means that straight line from 20/7 really is exponential! Even if it won't reach 1000/day until a few days into September.

And a case in Dubbo overnight.

Rick, we have to stop this parochial rubbish. The fact is , Qld used the short sharp lock down from the beginning, and that was the medical advice from our CHO. Qld hasn't hesitated once to lock down quickly, nothing to do with any other jurisdiction. I seem to recall border closures were the focus of anger and despair back at the beginning, the end of the world, it seemed. The Qld Premier, along with the Victorian Premier [ but not as virulent as the attacks on Dan] were attacked from Canberra to Sydney and points in between. It's no wonder that now we see NSW struggling to get under control a virus that has mutated to a more dangerous variant, because of what appears to be arrogance and hubris [ it may not be , but it's the perceptiion] people are looking and saying " what did you expect, you fools ".

My wife and I have three grand children. The centre of our lives ATM. In the USA now, children are being hospitalised at the age of 5 ,5 ye​ars old, and if they don't get seriously sick, they can look forward to a life of long covid. I can't tell you the dark thoughts that have gone through my mind about what should happen to these ....[.there's no word for them that I can place here. ] self centred, idealogically driven , arrogant , all of the above, plus.

NSW are blaming the people of SW Sydney, it's all their fault, they would have us believe. No thought of the philosophy of low paid casual workers that had to go to work during a pandemic, [ think aged care workers , in the original outbreaks] no thought of a population largely ignored by government to the extent community leaders of each ethnic group had to make videos in language, so the covid message could get through. [ gee whiz they are not listening to us :no2:] No thought to the fact large parts of the population have been traumatised in Syria, Iraq and places in between , so the fact they see soldiers on the street turns them to a type of panic, and they turn inwards , away from the government they see as no better than the one they ran away from. This use of the ADF, is disgraceful, IMO. Manning check points is a lot different to seeing the military and Police knocking on your door. Ask yourself, what is the reason for them being there , if not intimidation? Is that the way we do things in Australia now?

No Rick, Qld did not follow the example of the NSW government. No thinking government would.

It puts the commentator in a precarious position if they say on one hand that the NSW response is inadequate and in the next post say that using the ADF to accompany police officers checking on people staying at home is unacceptable and retain much credibility. I acknowledge that Qld has been successful so far with their outbreaks, however Victoria has not been and is very likely to be extending theirs this morning. Delta is a new threat and behaves differently, NSW has found that out the hard way and other states have learned, good on them, hopefully they will get as many of their people vaccinated as soon as possible.

medical advice would be to ban smoking, drinking and driving, 3 things that kill hundreds of thousands of Australians each year. but i dont hear anyone carrying on over this medical advice being ignored by the govt.

Answer this question. WHY was the ADF needed to bolster the Police presence? When Qld needed more Police for community Policing in SE Qld during the lockdown, they brought them in from the regions. The ADF was used to man check points, relieving some Police to do their sworn duty. Once again the fantasy arises that other States have learned from NSW about delta. That narrative is false, the fact is NSW refused to follow the example of States that showed how to deal with COVID. As for Victoria, outbreaks seeded from outside the state because of bad practices elsewhere should not be used to justify those bad practices. The word is disingenuous. We can talk about credibilty when we see the ADF patrolling with Police in Eastern suburbs coffee shops. As for vaccinations, we are still waiting on adequate vaccines. Enough said.

Now, the ADF .

" A State or self governing Territory can apply for a State protection order to protect the State or Territory from domestic violence" [ rioting for example, not house hold violence] The use of the ADF in SW Sydney is not 'protecting the State from domestic violence', so it is not an example of a State protection order. At this stage there is not domestic violence that would affect Commonwealth interests, so the ADF has not been called out over domestic violence that would affect Commonwealth interests, so the ADF has not been called out under part 111A of the act, and is not providing defence aid to the Civil Authorities.

So this must be an example of Defence Aid to the Civil Community [ DACC] DACC is not provided for in the Defence Act, but is governed in the DACC manual.The current use of the ADF is either DACC cat.4 or DACC cat5, an explanation of which is contained in the following link. Along with the powers of the ADF in Defence Aid to the Civil Community.

There are already restrictions on each of the things you mention and on some combinations of the things you mention.

The government is doing some things to reduce the harm that is possible from each of those things.
