I knew 'Par Avion' was suspended!

I'll let the article do the explaining, the link to the research is useful though the wordage is intimidating.[tonguewink]
It's not a new idea, some perceptive researchers into Heart Disease have shown how a person's Social environment / support has a disproportionate effect upon the body.
The Japanese have long recognized this by naming a particular cause of death, and Europeans have long known that heart attacks at Soccer Grand Final will always be greater in the losing country.[bigsad]
(The opposite would be how we respond to our Land Rovers mechanically misbehaving... [biggrin] )

" Par Avion was suspended ?
- S’il vous plaît expliquer ?

The Covid 19 contact App has just been released - despite assurances it does not use GPS and track your movements, apparently when you go to install the app it indicates it needs access to GPS.
Sorry - but this app is not for me - basically because Government agencies have constantly abused laws that are supposedly there to protect us - remember the meta data fiasco where supposedly the AFP could not get access to journalists data and it was against the law if they did - and of course they did and there were no prosecutions - the AFP just claimed it was an accident and no further action was taken.

I wrote to my Federal member a few days ago explaing to him that this past history is exactly why the uptake of this "app" is likely to be lower than hoped for. And I used exactly that example.
Having said that, I have gone carefully, as far as possible into how this works, and do not see any significant potential for abuse. The all data, apart from your name (which can be a pseudonym), your approximate age, your postcode and your phone number, are stored only on your phone until and if a contact detected by bluetooth withing the last 21 days is tested positive. At that time your details as above are sent to your state health department contact tracking group, and they will phone you. The bluetooth contact data only stores the identity code of the contact and time and date. It does not store location data.
Every day, bluetooth contacts more than 21 days old are deleted, and when the emergency is over, the whole system will be shut down and all data deleted. The only contact from the government apart from if and when you may have been exposed is regular checks to see if your app is active, and an initial pin number that is sent to confirm that you gave the right phone number and did not mistype your number. The only downside is that it will use some battery power, although this is claimed to be very small, and you need to activate and keep active bluetooth, which on android means you need to keep location switched on.
I intend to download and install it - when I figure out how to do that - I am new to smartphones.
Being a Billy No Mates we do not plan on downloading it & plan on self isolating for a few weeks even after the Gubmint says it is all over red rover or as long as it takes.
There could be a 2nd or even a 3rd wave so why bust a gut? Not happy about joining up with the "sheep" & jumping back too early.
A bit remote here anyway & 300m off the road, so nothing new in being isolated, in fact we are getting to quite like it & the people that matter to us can visit here if they feel the need & are very welcome provided they stick to the C-19 current rules on the day. Otherwise we have 2x mobiles & we have the VOIP phone.
We are very conscious of the 'Hand Washing & not touching the face' procedure, if anyone calls or drops off Groceries etc.
can we get a poll going on who will download and use the app.
im in the no boat at the moment.
