We will NEVER have 'a corona-free environment', even with a vaccine.
They are nothing new, and they will never go away. They are here to stay, particularly with global warming causing a spread of various deadly diseases such as malaria, resulting in worsening pandemics.
The best we can hope for is to suppress them, like many other deadly diseases, as long as people get vaccinated, improve their hygiene and stop kissing and exchanging bacteria.

Anyone with a modicum of knowledge re our military preparedness will know that the bloody 'dib-dabs' have squandered the national supply of 7.62X51 ammunition shooting up endangered dolphins and illegal immigrant, oops sorry poor deserving refugee, scows. The 2 remaining belts are now the matter of a major turf battle between the services and are unlikely to be wasted on vermin eradication. The interim move to the now obsolete 5.56 minimi would be a better option if the Australian inventory had any in working order. As a cost cutting measure and the now enforced work cover 5 Kg limit for arms length and above shoulder lifting the new standard is the 'ratshot' loaded Ruger 10/22. The main problem of course would be to protect the innocent ie. associates/contacts of the above free spirits.
