I’m pretty sure the dinosaurs died out when they stopped gathering food and started having meetings to discuss gathering food
A bookshop is one of the only pieces of evidence we have that people are still thinking

Yep. Take all the Public Servants et al back in & give them a long session on SMS -ing & how to read important instructions accurately before sending. Seems like that caused another stuff up & confused people & what if they had been tested positive & were let out of Quarantine? What then?
I like the Queensland Motto... "Lovely one minute perfect the rest" (or words to that effect.) Victoria's [Andrew's] could be.. "****ed if I know one minute & Ridiculous the next".
I'm sorry if I'm using veiled speech here but I think its only fair.
I am gearing up for my annual august trip ....I do two each year if I can, the other in april.
Because we are moving around a lot ie possibly through 4 states , I started to make enquiries about border crossings.
Each state has a confusing list of do's and dont's.
So I contacted one of the states police hotlines after seeing their list of "the only places where you can cross the border" and they said if I cross over , when I cross back I have to quarantine for 14 days.....I asked if that was correct..reply "yes".
I said if I choose not to cross that particular point and choose not to go in to that state at all can I go over the top and enter the same state but from a different state. She asked where I might want to cross and I told her and she said..."where's that"? I said don't you know? There is no other crossing for 100s of km other than thru cattle stations......she didn't know. I would have thought a police enquiry centre would have maps.
She said if I needed to enquire about other border crossing then I need to contact the respective state police hotlines.
I said I may want to traverse 4 states, she said be prepared to have to isolate/quarantine depending on which state you enter first or last
I said isn't there some guideline to which direction I can travel.
She said no , each state treats each crossing individually and if there is any outbreak in any state you are travelling you may be forced to stop and isolate.
I said seeing I wasn't intending leaving until this time next month is there any possibility of forwarding my complete travel plan to one authority and having it ok'd?
NO..... it doesn't allow for that.
any one wanna buy a 4wd that takes you where there is no covid 19?
I reckon if you are going to travel and you have the time to do a quarantine at the end of it go for it.....
Depending on how things go you might have a good holiday but bear in mind that the fact that you may have been on your own in the desert won't help if you come across a border that is enforced for the majority of travellers.
Mick made it back from Tassie (eventually)
Pros: you are travelling and are away from home. You are still in Oz so no concerns about medical treatment or real border issues
Cons: your plan may need to be flexible.

My heart bleeds for you. This all part of the confusion that seems to reign at the mo.
The states think they have got everything covered & then some smart bugger wants it differently or they haven't thought of this possibility.. Chop this, chop that etc. You may be better to leave your trip until 2050 by then things may have settled down a tad.

Super ModeratorI drove through Collingwood on Sunday to pick up a click and collect. The footpaths outside the cafes were rammed, there were packed queues outside a number of the shops, nobody was distancing, not a mask to be seen and plenty of physical contact.
When are people going to start taking it seriously?
Funny you mention that.
I noticed tonight that the Qld regs say you can drive straight off The Spirit of Tasmania and get out of Melbourne without stopping except for fuel and Qld doesn't count that as having been in a hotspot.
Problem is the whole of Victoria is now counted as a hotspot.
Plus, I'm not sure NSW would let you in anyway.
Plus if you go to SA you have to isolate for 14 days.
So, basically, you're stuck.
Good news is ACT, western NSW and Qld are open, if you haven't been to Victoria.
Its certainly getting confusing.
