Do not despair. The relevant squad will have his front door in at about 3-4 am soon. You never know, they may even bring shooters just to be sure or to scare the faeces out of him.

Then he will get his comeuppance. An "accidental" fall down the stairs, twice or thrice, may be on the agenda as well. [bigrolf]

So, going for a walk to get some exercise, while masked, and buying a take-away coffee while doing so, and socially distancing while doing so is not only legal and OK, I'd suggest that it was absolutely essential from a mental health point of view.

Please note, there was a post made recently making it quite clear that political posts in this thread and anywhere in the general forums would no longer be tolerated - there was quite a bit of slack given in this thread, but no more. Anyone thinking of posting political comments please take heed, the rules are being fully enforced again as it’s become clear people can’t play nice when these things are discussed.

I’m the last one who is Vic bashing - I hate it myself, but I also hate people not doing the right thing that got us into this mess in the first place - if it’s legal to get a coffee, then so be it but I don’t consider that essential to be honest and I personally don’t see why people should be out and about doing this, but that’s just me. When I have to leave home for work, I take my lunch and a bottle of tap water - that gets me through the day rather than risk myself or others by going into a shop for no real reason. I can make a coffee when I get home. We’d be through this a lot quicker if we just stayed away from others as much as we can for a month or two, but if we continue like this it will be many more months stuck like this.

Apologies if you think I’m Vic bashing - I’m not, I live and work in Melbourne and love both the City and all of Victoria and hate the way some are carrying on about us being leper’s etc. This was not my intention.

And you'd be completely wrong - dog walking is permitted.

As is buying takeaway coffee - which, since all restaurants and cafes are closed to eat-in, is the only option.

And we did take the lockdowns seriously, which is why Victoria had so few cases until the quarantine breaches occurred.

Social distancing and quarantining has been the "Strategy" used by various governments for "Plagues" of hundreds of years and it has been effective.
YES some governments **** it up BUT Common sense dictates that we NEED to keep our distance from others at times like this BUT some people have a really hard time with common sense and a social conscience and this is why the governments Have to step in and make the various rules in an effort to keep the community safe.
What is the alternative? Have NO rules and rely on the population to ALL do the right thing, Yer right This will NEVER work because even with rules in place some individuals don't give a flying **** and still totally ignore the rules FFS.

i dont feel like im an expect in the field, so it wouldnt be fair for me to comment. all i want to do is point out that our economy is key to the high standards of living we have in australia. the more the economy is "hurt", the more we will "suffer" in the future in all ways of life.
social distancing isnt a new thing for me. i do it all the time cause i dont like being near people.
