I see that SA is now banning SA residents who have been to Melbourne from going back into SA. Now I can understand them going into restrictions when they return but I would have thought the SA Govt does not have the legislative power to prevent residents from returning. I am sure that would be overturned if challenged.

Anyone who has been so stupid/selfish/irresponsible by travelling from SA to Melbourne in the last few weeks deserve to be "Shunned" from SA because of the very Real risk of spreading this virus when they return home.

you know that sometimes travel is not avoidable.
iv been putting off travel to vic, but i cant put it off forever.

IF you have a VALID reason to travel to VIC which is a VALID reason that the SA health authorities/Government recognizes I can't see a problem.
IF it is for any other reason then I think that you are fresh out of luck.
