Just some facts off the news around the world which is not very reassuring. The NZ cluster has grown from 4 to 101 with the source not yet determined, and a man in Hong Kong has been infected with the virus a second time, and with a different strain to the first. Qld Health are carrying out Genomic testing of the virus in the Youth Detention Centre to see if it is the same strain as the one the girls bought back from Melbourne . Here is something on how serology and genome testing are tracking the origins of the Qld cases.

When discussing vaccination rates for chicken pox and other diseases a figure of about 70% is normally used for it to be widely effective. For example, Byron Bay is becoming dodgy because the vaccination rate is nearly down to that level.
Infection is supposed to produce a similar effect by creating antibodies in large numbers of people, leading to herd immunity.
But the C-19 virus is changing, which means people who have had one strain may be susceptible to catching another strain. The current strain in Melbourne is B1125, which is different to the strain that was there in March. In the USA there are the Chinese and Italian strains.
Its like the flu. The shot I had earlier this year contained four strains of the flu.
This could mean multiple vaccines for C-19 may be needed.
Its going to be at least 6 months before a C-19 vaccine is available. Stage 3 trials with a large number of people are just starting and they take five months.
So, this is a long way from being over. A long way.

The WA mental health program has it right - for positive mental health, especially needed in current times, you need to Act-Belong-Commit.

Act - Do Something - keep active physically and mentally like taking on a project on your Land Rover.

Belong - Do Something with People - keep connected with others like joining the AULRO community and participating.

Commit - Do Something Meaningful - pursue something important and valuable to yourself like having a passion for Land Rovers and taking on challenges like assisting others.

Sadly this entire thread is everything that is wrong with the use of Social Media at present and unless some humour is taken is probably quite unhealthy overall. I only checked in when I saw the funny meme and then realised this is a very deep and dark place.

Beep beep beep beep - that’s me and my Disco reversing out of here.

There is little or no evidence to suggest that changes in the genome for this virus affect the ability of the immune response to prevent disease. This seems to be because the structure of the spikes on the outside of the virus are what makes it dangerous, and any change to these almost certainly mean it will not infect humans, because it is so specific. And this is the part of the virus that the various immune responses primarily attack, because this is what they see on the outside of the invading virus.

This makes it very likely that genomic variations won't circumvent immunity.

Oh my. I just had a mental image of you with a biggles cap on, walking around the garden vroom vrooming, changing into low range to negotiate the rough patch under the mango tree, finally getting stuck in the rose garden. OH, wait. That may have been me.

Don't think that's the reason for the genomic checking. I believe it is purely to see what strain it is, to hopefully trace its origin.

I would really like to think JD is right, but unfortunately there is at least one documented case of someone being reinfected with a different strain of the virus, and reports of others.
