At this stage, all the vaccine does is stop those of an advanced age with medical issues dying a horrible death. I'll take that.

Here's a thought for the unfortunate people caught up in the latest virus outbreak.

"The three travellers on level 10 who prompted the investigation - two family members and another person who was staying in the room next door - have all tested positive to the B1.351 variant of COVID-19, also known as the South African strain.
Dr Chant said the three cases travelled on the same section of a plane from Malaysia into Sydney but returned negative day two tests and "weren't infectious" while travelling.

The two members of the same family, who were staying in connecting rooms, tested positive on days seven and 10 of their stay. The third person, who was in a room next door to the connecting rooms, tested positive on day 12.

No flight crew on the plane have tested positive and "in-flight transmission" is less likely, Dr Chant said.
"We cannot rule out a common source, perhaps at the airport in Malaysia ... but what we are concerned about is whether there could have been transmission [in quarantine]."

Dr Chant said the Adina investigation had suggested the virus could have spread through the air in the corridor, but no conclusions have been made."

There is some evidence from the studies so far that it does reduce transmission but certainly doesn't eradicate transmission. Cheers

Exemptions for people leaving to Australia to visit high-risk countries will also be cut.

Absolutely correct.
That is compared to getting COVID 19 of course.
The incidence of death from blood clots is much greater with COVID.

NB, Hong Kong has a 3 week hotel quarantine requirement.

All of the approved vaccines reduce the probability of getting infected by the virus and becoming ill by over 80% (real life data for Pfizer from the US says in the high nineties), and even if the vaccinated patient does get the disease the probability of becoming seriously ill or dying is reduced by very close to 100% for all the vaccines.

No vaccines are 100% effective, but the approved covid vaccines are among the most effective that have ever been made.

Because of the short time that the vaccines have existed, we have no evidence to show to what extent the vaccines reduce transmission, but experience with other vaccines says that it will be very greatly reduced even if the vaccinated patient does become infected (but is possibly without symptoms).

Similarly, because of the short time the vaccines have existed, we have no evidence as to how long immunity lasts. This depends mainly on the virus rather than the vaccine. Again, this knowledge will come with experience.
