Melbourne's hotel quarantine blunder, opening the curtain on a flawed Security industry.

Melbourne's hotel quarantine bungle is disappointing but not surprising. It was overseen by a flawed security industry

Costly cargo, the plight of seafarers in a pandemic.

The crisis with seafarers is on the verge of leading to a crisis in global trade: ships are being tied up in port with crewing problems, charter rates are rising and container shipping schedules are being thrown into disarray. The IMO, as well as international shipping organisations such as Intercargo and BIMCO, continue to implore governments to do more to ensure that the flights needed to repatriate stranded crews are available. There has been a lot of talk about the crisis, but insufficient action so far.

And new border passes after midday tomorrow for everyone, that wants to come into Qld.

None were available on the govt site at COB today.

How rediculous is that,so they expect everyone to get the new passes by midday tomorrow and they aren’t even available.

Sure things with COVID are changing rapidly, but the Govt has just shown again they have no idea WTF they are doing

    Caravans ...

I was in the west of Victoria yesterday and while I was coming back to Melbourne for the lockdown I saw a couple of caravans heading west. They weren't grey nomads (the only grey nomads I saw were heading East) but had 4WDs, trucks, ATVs and those huge "off-road" caravans with all the metal cladding. They also had Victorian number plates so they couldn't cross the border into SA. Maybe they were from Horsham or further west and were heading home but I suspect that they were from Melbourne and were intending to bush camp somewhere in the west for the duration of the lockdown. During the last lockdown there were people camped at Lake Burrumbeet and along the Wimmera River so maybe that's what they were intending.

what is with this urge to have to cross the QLd. border?

tomorrow is the start of the caravan derby.

is this also related to the toilet paper rush?

More sunlight up there compared to Victoria. Sun exposure generates a heap of Vitamin D, which in turn massively supports your immune system. Therefore less chance of catchin COVID, - or any other lurgy.
