Tamiflu injection been with your Doctors for a few years now. The main issue with Tamiflu it as we tend to tough it out for a few days before we see our Doctors whose test may take 24 hours the flu is 3-5 days in most of the time. The other PITA is the flu test is a rather uncomfortable swab up your nose. The XOFLUZA pill still needs a script and scripts cannot be given unless flu is confirmed.

If you have a bad case of the flu, I don't think an uncomfortable test would worry you.

Xofluza is not in Australia and not on PBS. Relenza (zanamivir) is an Australian invention sold by GSK world wide

Xofluza is in Australia,[ according to the article]

"Unfortunately, supplies won't be available for this year's flu season. But clinical trials are currently underway in hospitals across Australia, testing the benefits of combining this medication with standard care for severe sufferers."

I'm not a doctor, and even with these drugs, the vaccination is the best method of fighting the flu. However the drug has been approved in Japan and the USA, after trials.

Baloxavir marboxil, sold under the brand name Xofluza, is an antiviral medication for treatment of influenza A and influenza B flu. It was approved for medical use in Japan and in the United States in 2018, and is taken as a single dose by mouth

Japan's Ministry of Health, Labour and Welfare (JMHLW) and the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) approved baloxavir marboxil based on evidence of its benefits and side effects from two clinical trials in adult and pediatric patients with uncomplicated influenza (Trial 1, 1518T0821 and Trial 2, NCT02954354 ), involving 1119 patients. Both trials included clincal sites and patients in Japan, with Trial 2 adding clinical locations in the United States.

As of September 2018, in the only report of a Phase III randomized, controlled trial, baloxavir reduced the duration of influenza symptoms of otherwise healthy outpatients by about one day compared to a placebo treatment group, and comparable to what was seen for a oseltamivir treatment group. On the first day after baloxavir was started in its treatment group of patients, viral loads decreased more than in patients in either the oseltamivir or placebo groups; however, after five days, the effect on viral load of the single dose of baloxavir was indistinguishable from the effect observed following the complete, 5-day regimen of oseltamivir in its treatment group.

Baloxavir marboxil was approved for sale in Japan in February 2018. On 24 October 2018, the FDA approved it for the treatment of acute uncomplicated influenza in people 12 years of age and older who have been symptomatic for no more than 48 hours. The FDA application of baloxavir marboxil was granted priority review in the United States, and approval of Xofluza was granted to Shionogi & Co., Ltd. in October 2019. Specifically, the FDA approved the use of baloxavir marboxil for people at high risk of developing influenza-related complications.

I used some very cool biofilm anti microbial products during and post surgery on Wednesday Bob. They are not generally available in Australia despite being an Australian Company and invention, Blastx wound gel and Bactisure surgical wash (Next Science) are now used extensively in the US. We cannot buy or used them here yet normally but happily I got to use them.

Yeah, I'm not up on what's what with medicines & anti viral drugs, but was slightly excited about this new one. Guess we'll have to wait for the clinical trials to finish. I have to admit, this coronavirus has me worried. Any good news is good news, if you know what I mean.
