Thread: Lots of trees falling down

I always am wary camping near tree's but would never have picked this one..

These pics don't look like the Dandenongs to me, and I have lived here and been around here for forty years. There have been some horrific tree incidents recently here, but this one seems further afield. Pease tell me where this was.

Nobody camps in the Dandenongs anymore ( verboten ), but up here the mountain ash are called 'widowmakers'. Often it's just a branch..., but I know a bloke who was on his roof with his son in Sassafras and a mountain ash cut his house in half between them. He was CFA, and had been at my fire a week before. Mountain ash are shallow rooted trees for all their height, and can fall without warning.

But real danger comes from the river reds on the Murray. DON"T camp under them!!

Sorry for the confusing wording !! I meant we just had a 3 person fatality ( from a tree falling then sliding & pushing a car off the road) in the Dandenongs, then this Red Gum - yes it looks like around the Murray River.
In my defence the pic doesn't match the wording though...
