Tom, is there no option for surgical rectification?

Sorry to hear that! No Disco to get frustrated with will be hard to take. I hope that you can find a slot somewhere that at least goes part of the way towards having some sort of quality of life. Cheers

I shall have to put the injector pump back on this afternoon (had it off as it had a leak at the sopt where you insert a dial guage at the back, so I took it off and did the head seal for good measure).

So the Disco has to go (plus the spare disco that needs a head and a windscreen for rego - both 300tdf), the Commodore, the Fishing boat and the box trailer AND the house (live in a small village which is out of town and has no shops and very little transport options. Massive life changes.

I would not think so. I have had a lot of laser work due to diabetic retinopathy and it has effectively taken a lot of my peripheral vision away.

Well I have a reprieve! I now have a restricted licence - Daytime only and with 75 km of home. I don't know how long the reprieve is for though. I have a shaky blood vessel near my optic nerve which the specialist has let go for 6 months, but he is worried about it. He says that to fix it he would be partially further destroying my sight to save my sight. So I will make hay while the sun shines I guess!
