Electronic Scripts have been fast tracks to be Electronic only in less than 8 weeks. We need it sooner!
Electronic Scripts when we get it means Doctors prescriptions will be not on paper just sent to your chemist electronically . You might be able to have you medicines home delivered to reduce your potential exposure to the Covid 19Any Doctors exposed to Covid 19 who is asymptomatic or exposed and required to self isolate at home can work from home ( if they want to of course) The cost an time trying to deal with paper scripts even via in during phone or video consultations would benefit from fast tracking this now.

Six months ago I had a doc email a 'script to the chemist. I just went to the chemist and picked it up.

We do that several times a day. Now 100s of times a day. Issue is chemist must have paper script posted to them $1 each as it is illegal currently for them not to have the paper even if faxed or emailed.Originally Posted by chuck
The biggest issue is 12+ doctors here who are now at home in isolation after exposure. Each of them has roughly 2000 patients. Roughly 25% of them have real life threatening issues from heart conditions, diabetes and similar which require medication to keep them alive! Each of those Doctors mean 2000 odd people urgently need to find another GP now. FAT chance today with only walk in bulk billing clinics taking anyone and they are the most likely to be adding to the 12 clinics near me that have to shut.
I mean please call not for me but for everyone of the 2000 people here who are really up ship creek today and the 10,000s or 1,000,000 of people who will have real issues getting medication in the next week or two.

SupporterMy wife gets 2 weeks supply of medication in bubble packs from the chemist , the chemist just contacts the doctor when they need more scripts & they fax them through . most of her medication don't have repeats it so it also saves us the $15 every time she needs new scripts .

We do the same to nursing homes and homes daily. The Chemist still need the paper script you just do not see it. Promise. Ask your chemists. Personally I would love the fax to be enough. Its Government RULES which can be simply and quickly changed which is why I am asking you to call the MPs and ask for this simple change to allow your doctor to work remotely or from home if and when that is needed.
100s of Victorian police self isolating now. A quick check of a GP Practice managers forum suggests GP clinics across Australia -Your Doctors- are trying to keep working- A little help to fast track the E-scripts will stop a lot of extra pain for you if your Doctors get exposed. I think almost all Doctors will be exposed in the next few weeks.
With out E-scripts or making fax legal with out the paper via post then all of your Doctors who are self isolation post exposure are unable to work effectively.
