There were 2 others here that I knew of Kallin's Disposals & Gawler Place Disposals. Probably more around, & I was doing some Air Cond work for a crowd here & over the fence in their yard were alum. air-frames of various ex- RAAF aircraft.


I frequently saw complete yellow Avro Anson a/c being delivered from RAAF Mallala after Auctions there. One finished up in a nearby paddock bought by Motor Cycle Rider Laurie Boulter (later killed on the Isle of Man.) for scrapping. Of course it was mostly always surrounded by gawping kids & the odd adult.

Kallins were flogging AWA #510 Radios post Vietnam, for not many $ Brand new in a Wooden Case, NOW OBSOLETE & what about those Dept of Supply auctions held around OZ? You could name it they'd have it. Aircraft at flyaway prices.

The 510 was a split set trans & Rec in separate Basic Pouches. After Viet. Small hand held radios went on to the market, smaller lighter & pretty much did the same job without all the paraphernalia.


A lot of stuff couldn't be used in this new Civvy world but by gee it didn't stop the imagination running wild.


My RAEME F in L needed to go back to some actual purchasers to buy parts for Yank Truck gearboxes etc. Army stocks were nil.

My grandfather used a cage trap which fitted neatly into a cardboard box with a hole just the right size for a 1974 Volvo 144 exhaust.

Personally I love cats, I just can't eat a whole one.

One of our neighbours has cats , I used to have to have words with then quite often about his cats getting in our garage & peeing all over my cars, I even asked the guy if it was OK for me to bring my dog over to pee on his Harley [biggrin] ( I had mouse traps set all over the car cover of Landy) :censored: Don't know what happened to there old cats ( wasn't me ) I think were old because they had then when they bought the house. They have a couple of young cats these days that sleep under my ute out in the street during the day , these two are much better cats & quite nice to have around.:thumbsup: I get on quite good with these neighbours now.

This one has been around for a couple of years having disappeared once but alas it returned like General Douglas MacArthur. Just as wily too. It's Day /Night will come, I just need to try harder.

How do you know it's an actual feral cat? Might be someone's who must not care for it to just let it wander etc.
I don't understand cat owners who let them wander, or who don't desex etc. Mine are indoors and outside only on a run or lead. Also because people who hate cats are horrible to them and poison, trap and do awful awful inhumanr acts of cruelty. I feel very strongly about it.
It's not hard to keep a cat safe and happy on the property and keep the natives safe too. I don't understand folks haha.

I never saw them , we carried the ANPRC-77 radio which filled your backpack unless you strapped it to your chest.

they were still using the 77 set when I got out in '86.

One owns a Mog then they should look after it. I know of some folk in the Hills that actually let the cat out at night to find it's own food.


One day there will not be the wildlife here that attracted folk to live here in the first place. Maybe then they will wonder what happened to it. Eerrrr hullllooooo, new resident?

We used the ANPRC-25 set for normal stuff.


RB I meant the run of the mill civvy ones you can buy off the shelf today.


They don't need a box full of ancillary Antennas & stuff to talk to some one a few KM away.
