    Wheel Hub Assembly

    Hi folks,
After having returned from a long trip my car '06 Defender started making the most horrendous noises from the wheels. I finally pulled the front left wheel apart and it looks like the wheel bearings have gone, the axle snapped and the hub nut pretty much destroyed.
I was wondering if anyone knew of a Land Rover wreckers in the Melbourne area that would have the entire wheel hub assembly (I'm not sure that's what you call it, this includes the axle and swing arm) that I could just take and replace without having to buy each individual part?

    Kindly,
    Gerard

Not sure what you mean by swing arm. Swivel hub perhaps?

We’re you still able to drive with a snapped axle?

Personally I’d replace the broken bits with new, getting a second hand assembly will require strip, clean, inspect and re-assemble.

two axles of note in what you're doing there.
drive axle(axle shaft) and the stub axle.
For the axle to snap and ruin the hub nut, I guess you're referring to the stub axle?
Not an easy job, but not hard.
I just did mine in my D1(same setup).

I have one spare front stub axle which should fit your defer if this is the problem.
I kept the better one of the two, the other wouldn't allow the bearing to come off, so was obviously worn.

As you're in Melb, I have the time to come and help a little if you want to PM me.
