That sounds like the old style Goodyear MTR, the now Duratrac, the Cooper ST and that type of tyre. Between the AT and the MT. Good touring type tyres.
A/T...R/T... M/T. Okay – we've all heard of A/T and M/T but who knows about R/T? R/T = Rugged Terrain and falls in between the other two.
This R/T class of tyre is a new one on me. Neither do I recall seeing any one talking about them on various fourby forums. It seems Toyo have had their R/Ts on the market for some time but I've never heard of Radar.
The Radar Renegade R/T+ is stirring my interest. Is there anything known about them?

They are very common with the 70 series guys, and they recon they are great.
Toyo RT is sort of in between the AT and the MT,as you have said.
BFG also have a RT,but its a completely different animal, that is if they still have them.
I have been running Mickey Thopson ATZ p3's on my D2a and my 79 series for a couple of years now (about 30,000K's) without any problems whatsoever and they all have at least 70% tread left on them (even on the 79 series).
These tyres are a cross between an AT and a MT tyre.
The Only issue with them is that they create more road noise than the Yokohama geolander AT's that i used to run.

Seems to be a nice compromise between the solid blocks of tread in the MTs but with siping. Would be a nice compromise tyre here in NZ with our mud but our wet roads too. I am always alert braking the land rover coming up to a stop sign if the road markings are thick paint. I slip on the paint under wet conditions braking on my Bridgestone Dueller MTs. The old maxxis MT tyres never did.
isn't r/t road/trail , vis suv tyre?
the r/t OEM tyres fitted to my Ranger are pathetic...Bridgestones....meaning nothing, not really capable of anything in particular on road or offroad.
I don't think any manufacturer is fitting a/t tyres to their fully functional 4wd off road vehicles.
certainly Ford dont and when I questioned the tyres was told they would fit a/t tyres at my expense.
that is why the Ford dealers have hundreds of full sets of 17"alloy wheels and tyres hanging around their dealerships because so many buyers forced Ford to fit proper wheel/tyre combos or no deal.
so back to the r/t tyres, you cant even sell them brand new or hardly used on rims for $20ea on gumtree.
Check your glasses mate
Factory Ranger tyre is an OEM Bridgestone H/T
Note OEM versions usually have different compounds and smaller tread depth.
