I had to turn off battery optimisation before it would work on my Oppo, so I'm unhappy about that, but we'll see how it goes.

I have read a few suggestions that some govt authority has loaded the app onto some peoples phones without their knowledge.

I can't find any truth in this yet.

The govt is a long way behind their prophecies for acceptance of this app.

Surely they wouldn't stoop this low to bolster their numbers....they would , wouldn't they , you trust them explicitly , don't you?

The low acceptance of this app has been discussed in parliament , what is their obsession with it?

probably both...

I'd be very surprised if the government was forcing it on anyone. I have heard of some employers ordering staff to download it, but that's illegal.

I think you still have to get the Government app to activate it.

Yes, that's how I read it too.
Its interesting that our government has worked happily with Google and Apple, but the UK Government tried to do it without involving Google and Apple, and failed.
