do they ask before you enter or after the meal?

So what happens to these contact details? The establishment hangs on to them for..... 14 days? 28 days? Then what, chucks them in the bin? And when a number of these pages of information are discovered by dumpster divers? Or fly out of the dumpster as it is raised over the truck to empty, who has these names and numbers then? :no2:
The shop has to retain them until the restrictions are lifted, I believe, so they are available if needed by a contact tracing team. This is necessary because of the failure of the phone ap.
If the shop refused to collect the details it might be closed down.
I don't mind. Its not like my mobile number is a secret. If people support having the ap on their phones, then why not give their details?
The mobile phone providers have all your details.Quote:

I guess that the state governments do also as how otherwise do they broadcast disaster reports and fire warnings.

Good luck finding an "elsewhere" that doesn't have the same requirements!
And, by the way, it's nothing to do with the "app failure" - simply that lot of people aren't responsible enough to have the app on their phones. This means there must be multiple or redundant layers to assist the tracing teams.
I don't like government departments meddling in my life any more than the next person, but there are some things that are a bit bigger than the individuals sense of outrage. There is nothing there data-wise, that is not available through various other means.
Paid for your meal with eftpos? Did you miss the security cameras in the car park? Turn your phone off and remove the battery before you ventured out of your house? Made sure you wore your tinfoil hat when outdoors?
Give me a break!
I just discovered the Covidsafe ap will now work with my phone. Previously, it said the ap did not support my phone, but now it downloads, so its now working, so that's good. Hopefully it will never be needed.
