As I studied journalism, these sorts of things annoy me quite a lot.

I'm sure Ron will be able to furnish more examples.

Anyway further investigation into on line dictionaries brought the following to light:

Personally those that misuse the word unique in such ways can, as far as I'm concerned, jam it up their fundamental orifice. And they incur my censure.

Upon reflection, correct spelling would be of more benefit to us non journo's as opposed to grammatical correctness.

If we are going to have a say about language useage in the media that ticks us off, the one that gets me every time is Western Australia being called West Australia. Don't these people have an atlas??

and that's what Vlad obviously failed to do in the thread in The Parking Lot.

and it probably won't improve his countenance if I inform him that I merely have to look out the kitchen window to observe some underground mutton, or talk about the fox that comes into our yard and stirs the Lab up and plays chasings with her, or....

I'm sure the majority of journo's and people don't even know the meaning of half the words and don't look at the words they're using.

Chronic - it doesn't mean bad, intense and it doesn't necessarily refer to illness etc.
It just means LASTING FOR A LONG DURATION

It was a BAD accident. Are there any good ones?!
A thorough examination - what do you think an examination is?
Completely satisfying! WTF do they think "satisfy" means
    Partially completed
    Complete stranger
    Police Intelligence
    Council Worker

I love it when I'm in a meeting and someone asks
    "can I ask a question?"
I always say "you just did" or "another one?"

    Sports commentary is the best,
A team is behind and they come out with
"They will need to score next if they're going to win"
Someones getting flogged 6-0 in the tennis
"he really needs to improve if he's going to stay in the match"

All good candidates for TripleM's Fri Arvo captain obvious

Check these quotes out by Murray Walker. There are some real gems among them.
