    New road maintenace vehicle

Two weeks ago Qld transport put a new road maintenace vehicle on Qld roads,so what is different about this new vehicle, well it is designed to reduce the amount of dust on unsealed roads in the country areas via designed oil leaks from the motor , gearbox, and diffs, power steering pumps and hoses and any other place oil is stored or transported thru the vehicle

Yes folks, thumper is street legal
had a test run at boonah a few weeks ago and was pleasantly surprised by its performance (even with overheating probs, hopefuly now sorted)and another run at spicers gap western side last week, attempted the washout that DiscoTdi put his rig in last time he was here and walked it in,even put the old girl up the side of a large log, something i had never done in the tojo, and am very happy with my rangie, even with its thirsty habit ,now just need to acquire a set of twin thermo fans ,maybe some larger diam tyres instead of the 30's that are on it now,and a few little nick knacks and all will be sweet

I hate getting cars through compliance. In Adelaide, we have Regency Park, and they can 'defect' you for quite minor things whilst conversely overlooking obvious major things. Government departments!

BTW - why do you want to drive your car up the side of a large log?

Good stuff ferno, its always good to be well and truly happy with a purchase, there is nothing worse than buying a car and then regretting it afterwards. Is LPG a possible inclusion in the future? Matt

Good point. I reckon if i had a rangie as a weekend warrior i wouldnt bother but as my daily driver i would need to, i have trouble keeping the fuel up to the disco. Matt

Thumper is my daily driver ,but being a subby all fuel is tax deductible (thanks for that little johhny),as is ALL running costs, repairs ,tyres,(hmmmm,a set of muddies mite be called for soon )so main thing is not to get too paranoid about fuel costs, otherwise will have no hair left at all
