Wonder what the convicts were doing back in 1850s. I myself see no problem using prisoners as cheap free labour. I am not a lefty tree hugger mind you. Better to make prisoners productive then letting them enjoy themselves in a prison, waiting for the release.
Hypocrisy comes in when you ignore all the cheap slaves/labour working in the catering industry or as fruit pickers, etc.. who are mostly international students/visitors from Asia or Europe working in "third world " conditions and usually underpaid. Because young Aussies would rather be on centerline and enjoy a life style that is built on using international cheap labour and collectively as a country, selling raw materials to , allegedly our biggest enemy, China.
By the way, when we were hit by covid 19, we told the slaves to bugger off to where they come from. Wonder how ethical this is.
i think MartnH has hit the nail on the head here.
I paid $450 for my ozpig. Okay a beer keg shaped fireplace/stove for camping.
I spent this much of money because it is supposed to be made in Australia and I know how hard it is to do so and the high wage and constant harassment from health and safety department etc..
Guess what ozpig are made in China. This Australian company who paid the Chinese slaves/workers $10 a day, charge me $450 and still has the audacity to say they are "proudly Australian". Haha lying deceving bastards. Is this ethical?
This is the reality of many Aussie companies. On one hand, they benefit from the cheap labour overseas on the other they will be the crying babies and ask Aussie to support their products. They use and manipulate our fear of unemployment so they can benefit from it.
What is your opinion on this?

Nah, they look like this, although there's money in them too, I'm lead to believe.

What gets me is Aussie companies trading on past local made products now made in Asia but still with Proudly Australian all over it.
Eg a workshop compressor I bought..not cheap either..with that logo plastered all over it lasted 12 months b 4 failing. A warranty claim ensued during which I was without a unit for 3 weeks while parts were imported to fix it. I asked the repairer is any of this machine made here. Nope...he said..none of it. Even the Proudly Australian Co logo is applied in Asia.
But try to find a locally made one...so we are basically stuffed by greedy importers in many cases.
I overheard two guys talking about getting ripped off by an Asian agent who charged them too much for freight on chainsaw chains...so we're only gonna make 5 grand on that shipment he said. Poor buggers..I felt sorry for them😞
Wanna get rich.. start an import business...as I was told some years ago😎
That you’re a more racist pig than most.
You need to have a better look - for someone claiming a Masters Degree you should know how to read!
OzPig on their own site has a page explaining origins of the business and its current set up.
For someone who claims to have a $10-15 Mil turnover company care to explain what you and your slaves (your words) do at MartnH Inc? Or are you manipulating the market as much as the next?
