The wife and I went for drive on Tuesday from home in East Kurrajong to Hill End and Bathurst for lunch and then back home. I was appalled at some of the driving we saw from following ridiculously closely to other suicidal moves.
Two particularly bad examples were a small car trying to do a three point turn on a blind corner on Hill End Road in a 100km area across a double white line. Fortunately we were only doing 70-80 as we rounded the corner or we would all have been toast. The other was driving through a 40km roadwork zone were we were passed on the INSIDE by an idiot in a silver V8 Landcruiser.. who proceeded to speed off well above the the posted speed leaving us in a shower of gravel and dust!
Stay safe out there..

Ha , You have that right . last week was heading south south of Moore River and after road works had people go past me on one of the overtaking sections , while myself and the going faster drivers occupied the 2 lanes heading south a Dickheadin clapped out old ute decided to overtake everybody using the North bound lane to do so over double lines , was interesting when a north bound vehicle was approaching as the Dichead could not get back in the south lanes due to traffic .
And the Freeway is not any better .
The view from a bus (or truck) is better, you see SO many more idjits and potential organ donors - Nice description!
After all these years, it still amazes me how many tailgate a school bus... you know, the Big Orange 10+ tonners, without a rear window... the fools think we can't see them, or noticed when they slotted in behind us... Dropping a gear or two plus exhaust-retarder tends to sort 'em out !
Most of us SB Drivers are very protective of our PAX's safety.
When I did country runs for woollies I,d get drivers right up the trailers arse end hoping they wouldnt get noticed.
They tend to forget that the sun makes shadows of of various things,so when some dumb idiot thought they could tailgate me,
I would normally cancel the cruise control and slowly slow down until they got the ****s and then they would scream past me doing whatever.
I,d just put cruise back on and continue my journey.

I'm on the road at least 5-6 hours a day and tend to see a lot of the same vehicles - couriers, truck drivers, etc. I give a friendly wave when I see these drivers and let them in when they are entering traffic or merging. Amazing how often it works the other way as well. I can't afford to be off the road due to an accident, especially when it's my livelihood involved, so have learned over time to chill out when driving.
Years ago I got some good advice from my dad (who can be a hothead at times - apple not falling far from the tree) when he had to avoid a lady doing something stupid in front of us. He said, "your mother has done dumb things like that" so try not to get upset, and just cut people some slack, like if it was your mother. It doesn't always work, but it has helped a few times!
Life is just a series of obstacles preventing you from taking a nap.
Driving trucks 5 days a week you see all sorts of numnuts I Recently had one of theses brain dead individuals pass me in his nice new Suzuki jimmny and slam the brakes on in front of me stopping 50 tonnes going down hill is not always easy. The gent in question pulled over about 3ks down the road I stopped asked what his problem was he said he was testing his brakes told him he's lucky that mine work.
