That is sad , we thought we were going to have to put our Pip to sleep just a week ago . he has improved but still not 100%, he is 14. I have to take him back to the vet later this week for more blood tests.

Sorry about your dog mate. They don't ask for much, just a feed and some affection but they give so much more.

Feeling the pain. Sorry to hear Dave. Our 10 year golden retriever old got hit by a car last week. Sadly got to brush his shaggy coat as he died with his head on my knee.![]()
Golden Retrievers are a lovely dog.
Not long after we moved here we had a few sheep & the Eytie's Golden Retriever chased them briefly.
He saw this & as we watched from a distance he picked this dog up high over his head & was going to dash it to the ground. To teach it summat I guess. (????) Just in time his missus came out, saw what was going on & stopped him.
Our experience with Italians & Animali is that most don't like animals & can be quite cruel with them..
Sequel.
The French bloke now on the same property also has one. Last year after the dog had been for a swim in our Dam they asked if it would be ok. FFS!
I related the story to him yet again about unknown old Chemicals (Agent Orange was one of them but under another name 245T I think it was) being in the mud & surrounds he was amazed but later I caught him with his dog in the dam again. 245T was used for Blackberry control on here.
Our Jacky died before this happened, stricken with some skin disorder that the Vet couldn't identify then which cost squillions.
Thick? Who said the French were thick & arrogant.
I despair.
The Greek bloke down the front "buried" a Ford Transit van in his dam just to get shot of it. The "old out of sight out of mind" ****.
Not in line with the content of this thread, but it does align with the title.
Today is my wedding anniversary. In two months, two weeks and two days, it will be 21 years since her death.

Actually this stuff started life as: 2,4-D, and then further evolved into 2,4, 5 ester. Yes, it was extensively used on Blackberry infestations. Growing up on a farm in WA we used this on Paterson's Curse, some times called "Salvation Jane". It mostly has a very short half life, depending on the specific environment. The Agriculture Department used to both boom and spot spray this chemical from suitably equipped Land Rovers, right from Series 1!4bee- I related the story to him yet again about unknown old Chemicals (Agent Orange was one of them but under another name 245T I think it was) being in the mud & surrounds he was amazed but later I caught him with his dog in the dam again. 245T was used for Blackberry control on here.
2,4-Dichlorophenoxyacetic acid - Wikipedia
It's name is written the wall of the shed & deffo 245T but that one seemed very dangerous & affected Male Sperm.
Didn't appear to have much effect here as the family had 4 lads & 3 girls although this may partly explain the mysterious bump in the soil under the kitchen Floorboards, as though there is summat buried there. Another still born child perhaps.
It's use here could have explained the possible suicide of the Lady of the House when she visited the UK back in the early '50s. or maybe it was Post Natal Depression after having so many kids close together.
It will remain a mystery forever now.
