    He Bogged a Jeep

    Oops.......

Perth man walks 60km, drinks from puddles, after car gets bogged in WA national park - ABC News

Whilst the theme of the story is valid ie have a think about where you are going, driving on a lake bed with highway tyres is probably not recommended.

    Regards,

This is a typical case of someone with NFI wandering around the bush in a mediocre/badly equipped 4WD getting his 15min of fame, FFS who in their right mind would drive onto a salt lake or black soil country in winter anyway.
Old Mate had plenty of water, plenty of food, sleeping gear and is in the prime of his youth, He also had a good map and the weather wasn't extreme either So even IF he had to complete the entire 60k's He could have done it with ease.

Looks like he graduated as a "Drama Queen"
It is clueless idiots like this that will eventually see the "Nanna State" force people to hold a special license/endorsement to own and operate a 4WD off-road.

It's easier to get a degree now than a grade 12 pass was twenty years ago. Just look at the number of 'graduates' who can't spell, punctuate or capitalise. Degrees are handed out like birthday cards now.

It was interesting that when my son & I travelled through that particular area the lady at the Condingup pub (last pub east of Esperance) checked with us that we had supplies and gear including HF before we set off into the wilderness.

Because, as she told us "there's no-one out there you know" - she was, in general terms, quite correct. Although like it often is, there is another tale therein.

She was much happier when we told her that we had come west through there a few weeks earlier.

We travelled through in what was a somewhat drier season and the tracks across the numerous salt flats provided good smooth safe running fortunately. We passed many spots where there was evidence that motor cars had been stuck up to the axles in wetter times.

At least one of the old abandoned settlers' cottages near the Permango Rd had been set up by the locals for survival with some basic food stores.

The largest sand dunes in Oz (Bilbunya) are out that way but be aware that beach driving has its particular own dangers out that way as well.

All very interesting - obviously old mate should not have tried it by himself or in his dad's Audi
