Just on the topic.Love the Darwin awards (Charles D not the Magnificent city in the NT with the same last name)

with all the kerfuffle over a long dead dogs name, confederate flags and names a change from the implied Darwin's theory of evolution AKA a nifty 1859 book 'On the Origin of Species' proposed the changes over time. Your idea for Victoria could have the same impact as Darwin? Victoria Beckham might be unhappy if it was linked to removing yourself from the Gene pool and her brand confusion with a Southern State in Australia and a nice place in Canada?

A "Drosophila melanogaster" might fit with the evolution side but is a bit of a mouth full. How about a "George" He was the long live Galapagos turtle not a Beatle type of George- Brand confusion Arrrgh- look what you started

Now, now be nice ....................... you know what they say about people in glass houses.

Us poor plague ridden southerners could promote a "Fawlty Towers" type thread about NT politics, a laugh a minute and a new political party or two every election with all sorts of politicians re-inventing themselves. Sort of a "Comedy Company" of the north , it'd be funnier than watching Donald Trump pretending to be intelligent

Had some friends around for lunch last weekend. On the topic of should we open the borders, given increasing cases south, everyone shook their heads side to side, no! Might have to give ourselves a Darwin award if we end up with community transmission.

And politically, I think we've got past the 'white shoe brigade' mentality, but like corona virus you have to keep your guard up if you don't want it back.

Totally off topic of course but it saddens me to see how quickly our Federation so easily Balkanises into a bunch of us and them parochial states.

Even so If I was living in Darwin I'd be pretty leery of letting us diseased southerners in too. I think defining the Covid infected areas by state name is not a good idea.

Yes, on that basis I think NT might have lost the opportunity of using covid as an excuse to incorporate some remainders of western Qld and northern SA...that way a Darwin Jeep driver bogged near Isa could say they are in Jeep 'Territory' (a pathetic attempt to segue back to topic).
