Victoria might have to be totally isolated from the rest of Australia for years. You will be unwanted aliens, wogs. Gladys will build a Murray Wall to keep you in Vic and out of NSW. Sth. Aust will spray you like fruit fly if you attempt to break out. Qld. will rectivate the cattle dips at border crossings in case any of you make it into NSW and attempt to come here.
Coronavirus could see Victoria operate as 'separate country' for YEARS

Old myth.
Qld have a disproportionate % of GST fed back to them under GST relativities, It's above 1.0.
WA have the lowest levels.
If you want to be parochial, NSW and Vic are still the powerhouses of the national economy.
NSW is worth more than 33% of the national economy, Vic 24%, Qld 19% and WA 14% based on 2019 figures
If you look at that as a percentage of the population, then WA and NSW are over-performing, QLD is on par and VIC is under-performing slightly. the +/- spread being about 5%.
I think you'd be stretching a long bow to say NSW and VIC are "powerhouses" when their "worth" to the economy is pretty on par with their population percentage. Certainly NSW out-performs VIC by a few percent, and WA out-performs NSW by a whole ~1%.
If the percentages you quoted are correct then I think it's fair to say the 4 aforementioned States are actually pulling their own weight.
