I’ve moved into intersections through a red (with an RL camera) to let an Ambulance through.

Even though for some reason your post shows as deleted in the Main Thread I was able to pick it up again in the Forwarded email Reply.
POD, I do understand where you are coming from but I did say UK, & haven't seen any Series or Docos for Australia.
From those UK ones I can appreciate what Crews have to do (not fully, but the best one can) & put up with but see no reason that OZ would be any different whether it be televised or what.
I certainly wasn't aware that Ambulance Services were being targeted negatively that you described
A few times in my life I have been very grateful that your colleagues (in my cases they were the SA Ambulance Service ) were there when needed, as have many here I'm sure.
I was trying to explain the situation/dilemma of having no Escape Route out of Traffic Lights to allow an Emergency Vehicle through, but not only for ease of exit but the thought for me is not knowing what the call consists of & the old "Time is of the Essence" thing. I wasn't complaining about the situation holding me up.
Seconds do count as you would be aware & but as my previous post mentioned, "If you are stuck you are stuck" unless you know some magic legal tricks ie. 20x Broomsticks Mary Poppins style, to get out of the predicament but I can't think of any.
Maybe in this case it was the Service Driver who should have hurriedly assessed the road situation ahead & acted accordingly, commensurate with the Traffic Rules & Service Exemptions & gone around? O'Connell Street North Adelaide is a reasonably wide thoroughfare.
It isn't my intention to start a slanging match on the Rights & Wrongs of this situation which must happen all over Australia many times a day, but was glad to read your now Deleted post explaining your position.
If you did delete it it might be a good thing if you re-posted it for the benefit of others here.
Thanks.
Emergency vehicles | Transport and motoring | Queensland Government
Not sure many people in QLD know that it's legal to enter a red light on an intersection or drive on the wrong side of the road if it is safe to do.so to allow an emergency vehicle to pass.
Cheers
No breaking the law in Western Australia
Apparently we are not allowed to go through red lights or speed to get out of the way of an emergency vehicle
Emergency Vehicles - WA Road Rules
Why would there not be a common rule for the whole of the country???
Road rules should be the same every where, especially getting out of the way of emergency vehicles
I’m agree with others, if there is a ambulance or fire engine behind with there lights and sirens on and you can safely negate a red light intersection then I would, Ive never had to, the most I’ve had to do is mount the kerb and run over someone’s well manicured verge

Legal or not I did a few months ago. Ambulance coming fast with lights and sirens on not to far from a hospital. I was in solo left lane with red lights, right lane and right turn lane very well occupied. I drove forward and up on to the foot path off the road. Ambo got through the red lights and to the hospital a bit quicker. Pretty sure the police in the right turn lane did not even blink at me. The red light camera did but nothing has arrived in the post.
Police have discretionary powers, it's highly unlikely anybody would get booked for moving out of the way of an emergency vehicle, providing it was done safely and sensibly.
If you don't like trucks, stop buying stuff.
